Hope Horizons Strategic Plan 2026–2031
1. Strategic Context
Hope Horizons (HH) operates in a complex and growing regional cancer care environment. Demand for holistic cancer wellness services is increasing due to rising cancer diagnoses, improved survivorship, and growing recognition of integrated care. Following its successful founding period (2016-2026), HH currently faces structural risks common to community-based charities: reliance on volunteers, funding uncertainty, and governance maturity.
This five-year strategy positions Hope Horizons to protect what makes it special — community trust, compassion and holistic care — while building the structures, partnerships and funding base needed to serve regional communities well into the future.
This strategy provides a clear roadmap to strengthen organisational foundations and build long term sustainability whilst growing access, quality and reach of services and protecting Hope Horizons’ trusted community reputation.
2. Values, Vision, Purpose and Strategic Intent
Values:
o Inclusive – we are inclusive and welcoming to everyone
o Holistic – we provide holistic care
o Community – we are for the community
o Personalised – we provide personalised support
o Empowering – we empower the individual
Vision: Regional communities where people affected by cancer are supported to live well, with dignity, connection and hope.
Purpose: To deliver accessible, holistic cancer wellness services that complement clinical care and respond to the unique needs of regional communities.
Strategic Intent (Five-Year Horizon): Over the next five years, Hope Horizons will transition from a founder-led, service-focused charity to a mature, resilient, regionally recognised cancer wellness organisation, underpinned by strong governance, diversified income, and scalable service delivery.
3. Strategic Pillars
4. Strategic Risks & Mitigation Focus
This strategy directly responds to key threats by embedding strong governance and phasing growth based on sustainable financial and workforce capacity. Through income diversification and ongoing use of data to inform, evaluate and guide decisions, mission drift will be avoided.
5. Measuring Success
Success will be monitored through annual operating plans aligned to strategic pillar, clear KPIs and regular Board reviews informed by client, staff and volunteer feedback.
