Meet our General Manager

Rachael Carter

Rachael Carter brings a dynamic combination of compassion, leadership, and experience to her role as General Manager of Hope Horizons. Born and raised in Toowoomba, Rachael’s diverse background in nursing, community services, and social innovation reflects her lifelong commitment to fostering inclusion and empowering communities.

Rachael has been at the forefront of impactful initiatives, including the development of the Refugee Health Nurse role with Multicultural Australia in Queensland and founding Mosaic Hues, a social enterprise supporting culturally diverse women. She has successfully secured significant funding for programs such as a driver mentor program for refugee women and was honoured with the 2024 Multicultural Queensland Award for Diversity and Inclusion Championship.

Her personal connection to the cancer journey has shaped her passion for holistic care. As a Registered Nurse, during her time in acute and community healthcare settings, Rachael has journeyed alongside patients and their families through all stages of the cancer experience. Witnessing the physical, emotional, and mental toll of the disease has deepened her resolve to ensure patients and their families receive the care, support, and resources they need.

Rachael is honoured to lead Hope Horizons, where she is dedicated to fostering a compassionate environment that empowers individuals and families to live well with cancer and feel valued and supported throughout their journey.
